Didier Appels joined Close the Gap in 2017, where he mainly focuses on building strategic partnerships, in close collaboration with the other Close the Gap team members. By building joint CSR programs with (large) companies, he is (with the team) responsible for securing recurring donations of computers that can be reused in educational projects throughout the world. Next to this, Didier is also one the driving forces behind newer projects, such as the launch of Close the Gap’s Hubs in Kenya, South Africa & Congo. Within his role, he combines his personal concern for environmental issues and equal education & opportunities for underprivileged groups in society, with a vast professional expertise. This experience stems from working as a Strategy Consultant, from the several management roles he had within BNP Paribas Fortis (the largest Belgian bank) for 12 years & from his role as Managing Director of a B-Corp focusing on circularity in ICT (called CTG Circular).
